Once we have all of the necessary information, we will provide you with a formal proposal. Our proposals contain detailed costs for both the design work portion of a project as well as the cost of producing and installing the work itself.
When you are ready to move ahead with the project, we then schedule an in-home visit to take detailed measurements and discuss the particulars of achieving your design goals. We then set about the process of creating your one-of-a-kind design with drawings, photos, and material samples.
Step by Step Remodeling Guide
To further give you an understanding of the remodeling process, we have provided you with a sample schedule. This step by step guide is illustration purposes only as the time frame can vary from project to project. Please be aware this is for either a kitchen or bathroom remodeling project that does not include reconfiguration of a room.
- Meet with a New York Woodwork remodeling consultant for a free design consultation where we create a proposal.
- Next we meet at our showroom and finalize the scope of the project and the terms of a remodeling agreement.
- We select all materials for the project.
- All materials are ordered and delivered.
- Demolition and removal of old materials and appliances takes place.
- Installation of new materials and appliances, flooring,plumbing and electrical work as well as painting occurs.
- Finishing touches and clean up.

Who will manage my project and do I need subcontractors?
From beginning to end, design to installation New York Woodwork is here for you. By providing you with a project manager that will be responsible for every phase of your remodeling project, including demolition, execution of work, installation and finishing, we manage all the details the job demands, leaving you to your daily life. Our project manager will meet with all the appropriate trades’ people (electrician, HVAC, plumber, etc.) as well as supervise and inspect all work done. For your convenience and assurance, the project manager will be available to you by phone and e-mail at all times.
What is the current time frame for either a kitchen (or bathroom) remodeling project?
A complete kitchen or bathroom renovation can take anywhere from 3 to 6 months. However, this time frame does not include structural changes whether that is removing or adding a wall, relocating fixtures and/or plumbing, and/or reconfiguring the entire layout. This type of work requires the application and approval of building permits from your city, town or state.
How do I know if I need an architect, designer and can I use my own architect or designer?
If you live in an apartment building, management may require that the plans be prepared by a licensed architect, or you may need a permit from your local building department. If you are removing or adding any walls inside or outside of the structure, you will need an architect to prepare drawings. We can provide all the design services you need in-house, but if and when a licensed architect needs to sign off, we will use one of the architects in our network.
Who will take care of securing of permits?
We will assist you in the process. We can hire a professional on your behalf to submit the paperwork or you may do it if you prefer. Please be aware the cost of permits and all related fees are not included in the cost of the remodeling/renovation project. Building permits require an architect’s drawings, blueprints, various plans and other documentation.
